Chapter 6 is all about finding and utilizing sources. This chapter helped me understand the benefits of having good sources, and how they can help make decisions about writing. For project 2, the sources that I find about residential history in Tallahassee will determine if I can write about the changes in residential diversity or if I will have to find another similar topic to write about. I knew a good amount about the types of sources that exist, but this chapter was useful and helped clarify the classifications of sources and what they fall under. The chapter also tells you how to find and evaluate if a source will be useful or appropriate. For project 2, this chapter gave a me a better idea of what I should be on the lookout for and how I can figure out which sources, if any will be important for my research question. I didn't really consider finding the perfect sources as the first step to a paper, but now I understand the importance of evaluating sources even prior to setting a research proposal topic. Sources are everywhere and especially after class in the library I feel like I have a better sense of where to find exactly what I need for project 2.
